1. Introduction

iJobber ("we," "our," or "the extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how iJobber handles information when you use our Chrome extension for generating personalized cover letters and CVs.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect:

• Personal information (name, email, phone number, address)
• CV or resume content
• LinkedIn profile data
• Job posting information you view
• Generated cover letters or CVs
• API keys or credentials
• Browsing history or web activity
• Usage analytics or statistics
• Cookies or tracking data

3. How Your Data is Handled

Local Storage Only:

• Your CV content, LinkedIn profile data, and extension settings are stored exclusively in your browser's local storage using Chrome's storage API
• This data remains on your device and never leaves except when you explicitly generate a document (see AI Provider Communication below)
• You can view, modify, or delete all stored data through the extension settings
• Uninstalling the extension permanently removes all locally stored data

AI Provider Communication:

• When you click "Generate Cover Letter" or "Generate CV," your CV data and the job posting information are sent directly from your browser to your chosen AI provider's API
• This communication is direct between your browser and the AI provider - we do not intercept, store, or have access to this data
• The AI provider processes your request and returns the generated document to your browser
• Each AI provider has their own privacy policy governing how they handle data sent to their API

Job Posting Extraction:

• When you use the extension on LinkedIn, Indeed, or Seek, it reads publicly visible job posting information (job title, company name, job description) from the page
• This information is processed locally and only sent to your chosen AI provider when you generate a document
• We do not track which job postings you view or apply to

4. Third-Party AI Providers

iJobber supports multiple AI providers. When you use their services, their respective privacy policies apply. We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of your chosen provider:

5. Chrome Extension Permissions

iJobber requests the following permissions. Here's why each is necessary:

activeTab: Allows the extension to access the currently active job posting page only when you click the extension icon. This is required to read job details for document generation.

scripting: Enables extraction of job information (title, company, description) from the page's HTML structure on LinkedIn, Indeed, and Seek.

storage: Stores your CV, LinkedIn profile data, extension settings, and API keys locally in your browser using Chrome's secure storage API.

downloads: Allows you to download generated cover letters and CVs to your computer in PDF, HTML, or Markdown format.

Host Permissions (linkedin.com, indeed.com, seek.com.au, seek.co.nz): Required to read publicly visible job posting information from these job platforms when you use the extension.

6. Data Security

• All data is stored locally using Chrome's secure storage API with built-in encryption
• API keys are stored in Chrome's encrypted storage, separate from regular extension data
• No data is transmitted to iJobber's servers (we don't operate any servers)
• All communication with AI providers uses HTTPS encryption
• The extension does not use cookies or tracking mechanisms

7. Your Rights and Control

You have complete control over your data:

• Access: View all stored data through the extension's settings and upload pages
• Modify: Update your CV, LinkedIn profile data, or settings at any time
• Delete: Remove your CV, profile data, or API keys through the extension interface
• Export: Download your stored CV data at any time
• Complete Removal: Uninstall the extension to permanently delete all locally stored data

8. Data Retention

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you control how long it is retained. Data persists until you:

• Manually delete it through the extension settings
• Clear your browser's extension data
• Uninstall the extension

9. Children's Privacy

iJobber is intended for job seekers and is not designed for use by individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the extension, please contact us immediately.

10. International Users

iJobber can be used worldwide. Since all data processing happens locally on your device and we don't operate servers, there are no international data transfers to iJobber. However, when you use an AI provider, data may be transmitted to that provider's servers, which may be located in different countries.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the extension's functionality or legal requirements. When we make changes:

• The updated policy will be posted at this URL
• The "Last Updated" date will be revised
• Significant changes may be announced through the Chrome Web Store listing
• Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy

12. Open Source and Transparency

We believe in transparency. iJobber's code can be reviewed to verify our privacy claims. We encourage security researchers and users to examine the extension's code to confirm that:

• No data is sent to external servers (except chosen AI providers)
• All storage is local to the browser
• No tracking or analytics are implemented
